讲座内容摘要:
William Morris, a Man of Ten Lives
Michel Prum
Paris Diderot University, Sorbonne Paris Cité
William Morris (1834-1896) is certainly one of the most original British socialists of the late 19th century. He may be more popular today for the arts and crafts floral designs that he invented (Morris calendars are sold every Christmas) but he strongly influenced the radical circles in England, as he belonged to the small circle of militants around Friedrich Engels and Eleanor Marx (Karl’s daughter) in London. He founded and chaired the Socialist League. His main contribution to the history of thought is News from Nowhere (1891), in which he expressed his revolutionary views on Britain.
