·The importance of judicial opinions in common law systems;

·How American law school classes revolve around reading judicial opinions;

·The components of a judicial opinion;

·How judicial opinions build on precedent from prior decisions; and

·How judges engage in legal analysis in their opinions, including by comparing and distinguishing cases.
